Honda will debut a new electric three-wheeled concept vehicle at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The Honda 3R-C concept “shows what a future minimal urban transport vehicle for one person might look like,” says the Japanese giant in its PR announcement.
Details are sparse for the three-wheeled design, which looks something like a hybrid of the Can-Am Spyder and BMW C1 scooter. The electric battery power system isn’t specified, except to say it’s mounted low "keeping the center of gravity low and thus improving stability."

The 3R-C’s canopy appears the most novel design on the concept. When parked it fully encloses the cockpit. When ridden (or is it driven?) the canopy morphs into a wind-shield, with the rider further protected by bodywork and side doors. A lockable storage area up front enhances its functionality as a commuter.European designers working out of Honda’s R&D facility in Milan created the 3R-C concept. It complements other European concepts, like the BMW C1-E as urban commuters utilizing electric power and increased protection for riders.
The Geneva show, which will run from March 4-14, will also see Honda display its EV-N electric concept, which made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show. Stay tuned for more details on the 3R-C concept.
